Kilimanjaro to Kazunzu 2024

A word from the Vine Trust...

Kilimanjaro 2024 is fundraising in aid of Vine Trust.

Vine Trust is an international development charity which connects volunteers from around the world with sustainable and effective projects which support some of the world’s most vulnerable communities. Working closely with in-country partners, Vine Trust seeks to empower local people to achieve their full potential, through the provision of primary healthcare, secure accommodation, and social care and support.

To date, Vine Trust has provided over 2 million healthcare consultations on the Peruvian Amazon and Lake Victoria, Tanzania. Our partners and volunteers have also completed over 130 family homes in Moshi, Tanzania, as well as the first homes at Kazunzu "Village of Hope" on the shore of Lake Victoria, providing security, shelter and a brighter future for vulnerable children and families.

Donations made through this page will contribute towards the work of Vine Trust, including the upkeep and development of the charity’s international programmes.

Many thanks for supporting Vine Trust – together we are helping to support vulnerable communities through effective and sustainable development.

Please note: Vine Trust does not accept responsibility for the fundraising activities of persons fundraising in aid of their expedition or the Trust. Any views expressed on this page are solely those of the named fundraiser and/or their donors, not Vine Trust.

Fundraising Activity

A group of ten of us are climbing Mount Kilimanjaro in September 2024. Kilimanjaro is the highest point on the African continent at 5,895m or 19,341ft. After the climb, we will visit TAWREF house building projects around Moshi then travel to visit the Village of Hope at Kazunzu on the shores of Lake Victoria. The team are Andy Brown, Ruairidh Chalmers, Rebecca Cole, Ryan Cole, Kevin Firth, Graeme Law, Ian Rankin, Ronnie Tierney, Geraldine Wolstencroft and Scott Wham.

How I'm raising money

We are seeking sponsorship for the climb and are also arranging other fundraising events between now and September including a series of charity whisky tastings at Souters Inn in Kirkoswald. The trip costs are being covered by the climbers themselves and all funds raised go directly to support the work of the trust.
