A word from the Vine Trust...
Isabella is fundraising in aid of their Vine Trust School Expedition to Tanzania. Vine Trust School Expeditions are an opportunity for students to make a real and lasting difference to Tanzanian communities living in poverty. Working closely with our in-country partners, volunteers construct individual family homes for some of the world's most vulnerable people - providing shelter, security and hope, and empowering communities to achieve a brighter future.
Donations made through this page will contribute towards the cost of Isabella's expedition, including international flights, accommodation, food, in-country transport, and the purchase of construction materials and resources. Any additional funds raised will go towards future Vine Trust construction projects and the development of Vine Trust's programmes.
Many thanks for supporting Vine Trust – together we are helping to support vulnerable communities through effective and sustainable development.
Please note: Vine Trust does not accept responsibility for the fundraising activities of persons fundraising in aid of their expedition or the Trust. Any views expressed on this page are solely those of the named fundraiser and/or their donors, not Vine Trust.
Fundraising Activity
In June 2027, I will be spending two weeks with other students and teachers from Peebles High School and the Vine Trust in the Moshi in the Kilimanjaro region of Tanzania. We will be actively participating in construction projects under the mentorship of local builders. I will experience first-hand what the Tanzania Women’s Research Foundation (TAWREF) do to make a tangible and empowering difference in Moshi. TAWREF’s work places a special emphasis on improving the lives of children, young people, and women in and around the Moshi region: they engage with local leadership and families to identify specific needs and conduct in-depth research to determine the most effective and appropriate way in which to empower these communities. We will not only experience first-hand the incredible benefits of sustainable community development practices by working under the guidance of our partners’ team, we will also spend time with some of the families that TAWREF support, hearing their individual stories and understanding just how the provision of a new home can make such a transformational difference to their sense of stability and security. Under the mentorship of local builders, we will get a hands-on experience by actively participating in construction activities for Individual homes for vulnerable families & orphans, mixing cement and laying the foundations of a home, and gaining a new outlook on the roles of global citizenship and ethical volunteering. Vine Trust has been supporting TAWREF in this crucial aspect of their work for over ten years, and in this time our in-country partners have constructed 153 homes in the area. Each one of these homes represents a more secure and stable future for particularly vulnerable children and families.
How I'm raising money
In September 2026, I will run the Aonach Mòr Anarchy. This route is approximately 22km with 900m of ascent. This will be my most challenging run to date.
• Runners begin with an initial 11km of varied tracks and singletrack trails through Leanachan Forest to get the legs well warmed up before the steep ascent to come.
• Joining the world-famous UCI World Cup Downhill MTB track, runners climb steeply on twisting purpose-built trails to the top station of the Nevis Range Gondola.
• A few hundred metres of level respite allows runners to catch their breath before they join the Blue Doon downhill MTB track.
• The descent back down the mountain is eye-wateringly fast, following the undulating and banked turns of the Blue Doon. If your legs can withstand the onslaught, you can go extremely fast, but the lactate will burn your thighs in ways most runners have never experienced.
• Re-entering the Leanachan Forest, the route follows MTB trails to a spectacular finish at the centre of the Nevis Range.
