A word from the Vine Trust...
Stephen is fundraising in aid of their Vine Trust Building Expedition to Tanzania. Vine Trust Building Expeditions are an opportunity for volunteers to make a real and lasting difference to Tanzanian communities living in poverty. Working closely with our in-country partners, volunteers construct individual family homes and larger children’s homes for some of the world’s most vulnerable people - providing shelter, security and hope, and empowering communities to achieve a brighter future.
Donations made through this page will contribute towards the cost of Stephen 's expedition, including international flights, accommodation, food, in-country transport, and the purchase of construction materials and resources. Any additional funds raised will go towards future Vine Trust construction projects and the development of Vine Trust's Tanzanian Building programme.
Many thanks for supporting Vine Trust – together we are helping to support vulnerable communities through effective and sustainable development.
Please note: Vine Trust does not accept responsibility for the fundraising activities of persons fundraising in aid of their expedition or the Trust. Any views expressed on this page are solely those of the named fundraiser and/or their donors, not Vine Trust.
Fundraising Activity
I’m excited to share that I have been accepted onto the Vine Trust Adult Expedition to Moshi, Tanzania (2026) a unique opportunity to combine volunteering, cultural exchange, and sustainable international development. Delivered in partnership with the Tanzania Women Research Foundation (TAWREF), this expedition supports vulnerable families living in the foothills of Mount Kilimanjaro. For over a decade, Vine Trust and TAWREF have worked together to build 153 family homes, providing safety, stability, and hope for children and women facing housing insecurity. Why this matters: 57% of households in the Kilimanjaro region live in poor-quality housing 1.6 million children in Tanzania have lost one or both parents Unsafe housing significantly increases risks for women and girls Children in inadequate housing are twice as likely to miss school The expedition (31 August – 14 September) includes: Hands-on construction work alongside local fundis School and community engagement activities Cultural experiences and sustainability learning Meaningful relationship-building with local families We’ll be based in Moshi, contributing to community-led development and learning from long-term partnership models that prioritise dignity, sustainability, and local leadership.
How I'm raising money
Over the next few months, I’ll be taking on a series of physical challenges to raise money for a cause that matters to me. This includes a 56 mile walk over two days from Sheffield to Warrington, plus two team training hikes in preparation Ben Nevis then and then for the Three Peaks Challenge later this year.
