Earlston H.S. - Blog 2 - On Safari

We got up early this morning - 5.30am for a 6am breakfast! It was a struggle to get out of bed, but we wanted to have the best possible chance of seeing lots of animals on our safari.

After a long climb to the top of the ridge of the Ngorogoro Crater, the drivers navigated us down into the crater. We saw hippos and lots of wildebeest and zebras. Apparently a rhino was spotted, but all it really looked like was a grey rock in the distance!

After lunch and on the way to leave the crater, some lions were spotted on a hunt. We waited for around 15 minutes before the lionesses ran and caught a wildebeest, before a group of hyenas fought the lions off. The wildebeest made an escape bit right across the front of the jeeps. The pack of hyenas followed, and eventually caught and killed, the wildebeest. It rounded off an incredible day of exciting experiences.

Everyone was exhausted and slept for most of the journey back to Berea.
