Orphans- Tanzania
|
We are exploring the possibility of launching an additional pilot project in Tanzania. This would be very much in addition to the work in Peru where we have developed an excellent relationship with our partners SU Peru. The project will see us linking up with parishes and NGO’s to develop work with street children and orphans who have lost parents to HIV/Aids, TB and malaria, among other diseases. We have identified 4 projects which we would like to support. In each case the local organisation is already reaching out to some of the poorest orphans and street children on remarkably few resources. |

Although they are already providing food and clothing for the children they would like to build homes for the poorest ones who do not have any relatives who can look after them and the Vine Trust is planning to support them in this. Case Study: Zawage meaning ‘Gift’ is exactly the kind of boy that the new pilot project would be looking to help. He is 6 years old and was abandoned by his mother to live on the streets where he survived by picking at rubbish. He has no other known family and has developed some complicated health problems from his time on the streets. Thankfully in his case, a kind volunteer from the local church has taken him into her house but she already has 4 children and struggles to provide for them all. This is where the Trust is looking to help. |
